Mainland hemp company, Australian Primary Hemp will be hosting a “FINOLA Hemp Farming” information session with support from the Hemp Association of Tasmania, in Launceston on the 20th of June and invites all interested farmers to attend. This comes as Tasmania continues to see the benefits in growing hemp with the increased demand both domestically and internationally.

FINOLA is one of the most popular hemp varieties, grown throughout Europe and North America. In the last 5 years, the FINOLA variety has accounted for over a third of Canada’s hemp production. It also has a shorter life cycle than other varieties, only taking 100 days to mature compared to 120, with stronger yields seen across the board.

Similar hemp varieties have been grown in Tasmania for the past 7 years. During this time, reports have shown increasing success with the Tasmanian Government reporting the 2017 yields to average over 1 tonnes/per hectare.

Mitch Costin the Agricultural Relations Manager for Australian Primary Hemp, mentioned, “Tassie growing conditions are very similar to Canada, where FINOLA is currently widely grown. Having seen some Tassie farmers reaching yields as high as 1.8 tonnes/per hectare, before dressing, on other varieties, I am excited to see if a variety like FINOLA can improve on this.”

Tim Schmidt from the Hemp Association of Tasmania, commented, “It is great to see such a large mainland hemp company like Australian Primary Hemp, choosing to come work with Tasmanian farmers. It opens up a lot of new opportunities for the industry, especially with such a popular variety like FINOLA.”

Australian Primary Hemp is the countries largest independently owned hemp company and has exclusive distribution rights to the hemp variety, FINOLA. The company is passionate about growing hemp farming in Australia, with all four Directors originally coming from farming backgrounds.

James Hood Director of Operations at Australian Primary Hemp, mentioned, “It is really important that we find new sustainable farming solutions, such as hemp to support Australian Farmers. Tasmania has been blessed with the ideal growing conditions for this super plant and I believe with a variety like FINOLA we will only see better results.”

Representatives from Australian Primary Hemp along with special guests will be speaking at the “FINOLA Hemp Farming” information session. The event will be held in Launceston on the 20th of June. If you wish to attend please register your interest at info@ausprimaryhemp.com.au.
